Former Pitt Panther and current member of the Minnesota Timberwolves Mark Blount was listed as having the 14th worst contract in the NBA this season in an article by Bill Simmons from ESPN. Blount is in the middle of a 3 year contract that will pay him 22 million dollars.
Blount left Pitt after two seasons to go pro.
Blount's stats at Pitt:
95-95: 3.6ppg 3.0rpg 1.0bpg
95-96: 9.1ppg 6.8rpg 2.7bpg
Blount was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1997 NBA Draft by the Seattle Supersonics but did not make the team. To Blount's credit he played overseas, made a name for himself and earned an NBA job with Celtics in 2000-01 and has been in the NBA ever since. Now he has joined the dubious list of worst contracts in the NBA.
Mark Blount is the only former Pitt player currently in the NBA.

Even though Blount left college at least a year too early, I'm not sure how he makes Pitt look bad. He has made millions and millions of dollars in the NBA. Conversely, where has Chris Taft been lately?
Aaron Gray, bro.
4 for 6, 10 points 10 boards for Gray tonight, surprisingly.
I respect Blount for having a lengthy if not spectacular NBA career, and for working so hard to get back into the league, I was simply jabbing fun at his contract being called one of the worst in the NBA.
Blount worked hard only briefly. Since I had NBA League Pass during the past four years of Celtics suckitude at Duquesne, he only worked hard for his contract. Once he got it, he went back to being mediocre at best. This ignores the fact he was a complete locker room cancer...
Think Robert Mitchell in the NBA.
Well at least he isn't enjoying in the Celts current success, and instead stuck on a horrible Twolves team.

did you get NBA league pass for free while you attended Duquesne?
Gray did have a nice game tonight, let's hope he makes more of his NBA career than former Panther big man Darren Morningstar
It's hard to blame the players for the bad contracts, even if they don't deserve it like Blount. There are some terrible NBA GMs out there willing to sign players for way too much.
I'm not blaming Blount, but I am bringing attention to his bad contract because I do feel it reflects poorly upon him as a player.
