- This is what B.J's high school coach had to say about him: "He's going to be a 1,700-point scorer. He's a prolific scorer. After watching them play, he's a perfect fit for Duquesne and he does well in the classroom."
- Monteiro's coach had this to say about how B.J. plays the game: "He can play outside and he's effective there, but when he gets the ball close to the basket, he can go with the best of them. He's a great all-around player, who will adapt to the situation."
